UPDATE: on the question of another blog

I am really quite dreadful at reading directions. In fact, I often ignore them and then find out later that I’ve only made my life more difficult. So while considering a new place to blog I discovered that wordpress actually imports blogs from other blog locations if you want to make an easy transition here and not lose all your past work. I read through some comments of “blogger refugees” who are very happy at wordpress and I thought I may not have been very thorough in learning about how to best utilize this blog. I’m reading up and hopely learning more. This is really is a pretty good place to blog after all, so I’m going to stick around and keep reading the directions…

Another Place to Blog???

I keep wondering if I should switch to another blog. I don’t always feel like this is the most “user friendly” blog. I would LOVE feedback. Do you like the blog you use? Why or why not? I kind of hate to start over, but I think I would blog more if it was a little easier to use…

On another note, it’s Monday. Also a  New Moon, I believe a new month in the Jewish calendar, and the Chinese New Year too? Great day for a fresh start…

Today is a Great Day!!!

I am so happy to witness this day in our country.

Reading the News and Dreaming of Other Places

I got home from school today and turned on the TV to the news of the plane that crash landed on the Hudson River. It’s extraordinary that all passengers survived. What a story! So many incredible things are always happening in the world and it got me to thinking how important it is to spend at least a little time every day to stay in tune with current events. So often we get completely caught up in our own singular lives that we forget about how we fit into the greater picture. What is currently happening in Israel is tragic. No matter how you view it politically, it has worldwide repercussions and we should be aware. When traveling I have found it very humbling to discover how informed people are of world events. Often I would meet Europeans far more educated about what was happening in my country than I was…

I also think it’s important to love and revel in beautiful things and places so I am posting some pictures from this addictive site. I do think that I could spend the rest of my life in some these places and be nearly perfectly happy…

Writing it Down

Photo showing an open journal and penI’ve been thinking allot about writing lately. I’m fortunate enough to be somewhat compelled to contemplate it because I’m taking a fiction writing course this quarter. As a hard core procrastinator, it’s great to have an activity in my “obligatory life” that spurs me to really take action on all the things I constantly only think about. I’ve thought about creating a post on my New Years resolutions, but for now I will focus on one of them.

I am determined to keep a regular journal for a year. I’ve done this on and off throughout my life and I have found that the times I actually stick to it, I am SO much happier and more productive. Writing down thoughts and ideas are my first step to carrying out projects and creative endeavours. Last fall as I was searching for something completely unrelated, I happen to come across this excellent site about journaling. If you are contemplating keeping one, wondering why you should, or have any interest at all, I would highly recommend checking out this site. http://www.infed.org/research/keeping_a_journal.htm

Nothing inspires me more than a fresh blank book. Here are some lovely ones I found on Etsy:

Coffee Shop City Steam Design - Gocco Printed Moleskine

Sunflowers .. Moleskine Cahier Pocket Notebook Journal .. Plain

If nothing else…

In 2009 please think about what you buy and where it comes from. What better time to assess what we really need and what we only want?
